West Coast Fever has been well represented in the Australian Development Squad, which has been announced today.
Jess Anstiss and Alice Teague-Neeld have been named in the Team, while youngster Olivia Lewis has been selected in the wider squad.
Kaylia Stanton was selected, but was withdrawn due to injury.
Anstiss’ selection comes after her maiden selection in the Australian Diamonds squad last season, with the youngster finishing her 2019 season with 12 intercepts and 16 deflections from 14 games.
Teague-Neeld developed a strong combination with powerhouse shooter Jhaniele Fowler, ending the year with 42 goals, 194 goal assists, 145 centre pass receives and 254 feeds.
Lewis burst onto the Suncorp Super Netball stage this season, making her National League debut in Round 1, and went on to play nine games, recording five intercepts, 18 deflections and nine rebounds.
West Coast Fever Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich, who is also an Assistant Coach for the Australian Development Squad, congratulated her athletes.
“It’s fantastic to have Jess, Alice and Olivia selected in the Australian Development squad,” Marinkovich said.
“Their selection is testament to their hard work, dedication and passion, both on and off the court, as well as their performances on the court for Fever throughout the 2019 season.”
“To have three athletes selected in this side demonstrates the fantastic youth we have at our Club, which holds us in fantastic stead for the future.”
“I know they will relish their opportunities in the national environment and bring great learnings back to the West Coast Fever environment.”
The selection comes after Captain Courtney Bruce was named in the Australian Diamonds Constellation Cup team last week.
The Australian Development Team will play matches against the England Development and New Zealand Development Teams.
