West Coast Fever have been defeated 70-60 by Giants Netball in Sydney today, with the win all but securing a finals berth for the Greater Western Sydney side.
Fever were again without Captain Courtney Bruce, who is nursing a minor pneumothorax, with Training Partner Sunday Aryang travelling to Sydney with the side.
Young gun defender Olivia Lewis started her second straight match at Goal Keeper, with the youngster putting in a strong four-quarter performance on Australian Captain Caitlin Bassett.
Lewis finished with two intercepts and two rebounds, as she combined with Stacey Francis (one intercept) at Goal Defence.
Both sides started the match strongly, with Fever forcing a number of turnovers to lead by four goals midway through the first quarter.
However, the Giants clawed their way back after a late time out to level the scores at quarter time and deny either side a bonus point.
The home side put their foot down in the second term, outscoring Fever 21 goals to 11 to lead by 10 goals at half time, and record their first bonus point of the match.
The third term was far more even, with Francis and Lewis both getting hands on the ball, however, the Giants managed to extend their lead to 12 goals at the final change.
Fever produced a good brand of netball in the final term to win the quarter 18-16.
Shooter Jhaniele Fowler was again a dominant force in the goal circle with 50/52, while Alice Teague-Neeld showcased her craft around the court with 16 centre pass receives, 23 feeds and 15 goal assists.
Verity Charles continued to produce an enthralling battle with Jamie-Lee Price, with Charles finishing with 35 feeds and 24 goal assists.
