We sat down with Hyundai Ambassador and Fever Goal Shooter Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard to talk about the importance of being safe on the road.
Jhaniele, congratulations on your new ambassadorship with Hyundai. What do you love about the partnership?
Hyundai are great supporters of Netball WA, in particular the grassroots and all the do to help the clubs raise much needed funds. Last year, one club raised over $19,000 so when the opportunity came to be an ambassador, I jumped at it. Plus I get to drive a Hyundai SANTA Fe which has all the safety tech and luxuries that you could ever want.
This round, Hyundai and RAC have partnered to promote National Road Safety Month and the importance of slowing down. How important is this to you?
Hugely. Even small increases in driving speed can have a huge impact on the outcome of a crash. A 10 per cent decrease in speed has a small impact on journey times but can reduce death and serious injury crashes by up to 30 per cent in high-speed environments. WA have seen too many lives lost on the road recently, which impacts so many people so we need to be doing more as a community to help reduce that number.
Do you have a tip for young drivers out there?
Avoid any distractions and pay attention to your speed. It can creep up slowly but every kilometre counts!
