Western Sting’s title defence will begin with two blockbuster clashes against the Tasmanian Magpies at the State Netball Centre in May.
The full fixture for the competition that underpins Suncorp Super Netball was released today, with the reigning premiers hosting eight of their 14 games at the State Netball Centre in 2018.
Following three consecutive bronze medals, Sting broke through for their maiden Gold Medal in 2017, in a year that saw the side secure wins both on and off the court, also signing their first Major Partner in the University of Western Australia.
Excitingly, Sting will also host two matches across Netball WA’s largest participation event, the Smarter than Smoking Association Championships, allowing the more than 13,000 spectators the opportunity to watch Sting in action against the Canberra Giants.
The rematch of last year’s Gold Medal match with the Vic Fury will take place in Melbourne on the 16th and 17th of July.
Western Sting Head Coach Andrea McCulloch welcomed the fixtures.
“We’re incredibly excited about our 2018 fixture,” McCulloch said.
“To be able to host eight games at home next year is a great reward for our loyal fans who supported us so passionately this season.”
“We’re certainly looking forward to getting back on court in 2018 and continuing to build on our strong performances from this year.”
Western Sting’s 2018 squad will be announced in the coming weeks, with the full coaching staff to be named early next year.
