West Coast Fever defensive midcourter Shannon Eagland has made her return to the netball court in today’s pre season match against the Samsung Diamonds at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
Just over a year since rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee against the Melbourne Vixens, Eagland donned the green dress for the first time, taking the court for three quarters.
The 27-year-old said she was excited to get back on the court.
“I was jumping out of my skin to be honest,” Eagland said.
“I had a few pre game nerves, a little bit more than the few training match plays I have had.”
“I saw today as removing the training wheels, which you definitely have to do when you play the best team in the world, but we definitely built throughout the game so it was a good hitout.”
Fever will now face the Samsung Diamonds tomorrow, before travelling to Sydney to face Giants Netball on Saturday and the NSW Swifts on Sunday.
The West Coast side will then face the England Roses next Wednesday, before returning home to finalise their preparations for the season proper.
Fever open their 2018 season with an away game against the Thunderbirds, before returning home to face the Magpies in a blockbuster Saturday night clash at Perth Arena.
