West Coast Fever’s future has received a significant boost, following the announcement that, Jhaniele Fowler and Jess Anstiss have committed to the Club for the next three years.
Anstiss has proved to be one of the game’s elite midcourters, showcasing her versatility throughout all three midcourt positions this year, just her second at the elite level.
The young West Australian made her Fever debut in 2017, a year in which she was crowned the Club’s Most Valuable Player, while she was rewarded for another stellar campaign this year, by being named in the Samsung Diamonds squad.
Fowler cemented her position as the best shooter in the world, breaking records in her first season in green, including most goals by an individual in a single game, and most goals by an individual in a regular season.
The Jamaican Captain bagged two hauls of 66 goals, each against the Adelaide Thunderbirds, on her way to scoring 783 goals in the regular season, and was also recognised at Wednesday night’s Awards Night, being awarded the 2018 Player’s Player of the Year Award.
Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich noted the significance of the duo’s signatures.
“Jess and Jhaniele are all world-class athletes, they’re all international representatives, and they are all integral parts of our future,” Marinkovich said.
“We are steadfast in our approach to list management, so I am certainly glad they have each shown a significant commitment to West Coast Fever.”
“What these athletes bring to the Club, not just on the court, but also off the court, in terms of leadership, is second to none, and they will each play big roles in the future of Fever.”
Fever is urging the West Australian sporting community to get behind the Club and register for a 2019 Membership here.
