West Coast Fever Trio set for Fast5 International Duties

Australian Fast5 Coach Stacey Marinkovich has thrown her support behind the playing group as the squad prepares for the Fast5 Netball World Series this October.

Fast5 Netball is fast, exciting and energetic – with different rules to regular netball giving it a quicker edge including: five players-a-side, shortened quarters, multiple point shots and double point power plays.

Australia will be aiming to improve on last year’s third place finish, with a youthful squad featuring three Samsung Australian Diamonds.

“I think it’s going to show the growth and depth that Australia actually has,” Marinkovich said.

“Even though it’s a different style of game anytime you get to play against an international opposition in a pressure situation can only grow you as a player.”

The squad will feature some familiar faces for Marinkovich, with West Coast Fever trio Kaylia Stanton, Jess Anstiss and Verity Charles gearing up for the series.

“Kaylia being in the team last year showed that her long shot can really provide a great opportunity for us,” Marinkovich said.

“She’s also evolved her game in the way that she’s moving and how she’s been training in the goal attack position with Fever.”

“Jess has been in the Diamonds environment and been recognised at this level,”

“Verity been a dominant player in that Centre role, being able to really run out a game and that’s what Fast5 is all about.”

The Australian Fast5 team will gather in Melbourne on Tuesday 23 October for a pre-series training camp.
