The undefeated and top of the ladder West Coast Fever will travel to Queensland to take on the winless Sunshine Coast Lightning in Round 3 of Suncorp Super Netball.
Although the Lightning were victorious on both occasions last season, Fever represent a completely different prospect in season 2018, with defenders Courtney Bruce and Stacey Francis starting the year on fire, combining for 11 intercepts and 15 deflections.
Jamaican import Jhaniele Fowler has also had a brilliant start to the year, scoring a whopping 128 goals from her two games, shooting at 95% and is looming as a likely game-breaker in this match.
Nat Medhurst has also caused headaches for opposition defence this season, using her pace and agility to create opportunities for her teammates with 56 goal assists.
However, Fowler and Medhurst will need to bring their defensive attributes the attacking third, as Lightning defenders Geva Mentor and Karla Pretorious are leading the competition for intercepts and deflections.
Although the Fever shooters have been in superb touch so far, exciting youngster Kaylia Stanton is waiting in the wings should head coach Stacey Marinkovich want to make a change.
While the Lightning are currently sitting sixth on the ladder without a win, they have only just fallen short by three goals in the opening two rounds.
The battle between former West Coast Fever shooter Caitlin Bassett and new captain Courtney Bruce will add some extra spice to this tough contest and will go a long way to deciding the winner of this important clash.
