West Coast Fever have continued to take significant strides in their preparations for the second season of Suncorp Super Netball, following pre season matches against Giants Netball and the NSW Swifts over the weekend.
Fever led at every break against the Swifts on Sunday, running out seven goal victors, but fell short of last year’s Grand Finalists the Giants by six goals on Saturday afternoon.
The matches rounded out four games in as many days for the West Coast side, with Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich noting the importance of the trip away from home.
“It’s been great to take our game plan, behaviours and culture away from our bubble in Perth and onto the road,” Marinkovich said.
“To be able to live the Fever values and execute consistently has been something we’ve been impressed with.”
“We've enjoyed the opportunity to play that many games in that many days and we have certainly been growing with every performance.”
“We have some of the leading sports science staff in the State working at our Club, and they’re monitoring load and managing our athletes to ensure they’re playing their best netball.”
“Their physical condition has been outstanding, and the way they have recovered and taken on feedback to implement change has been impressive.”
Fever will now face the England Roses on Wednesday afternoon, before returning home to fine tune their preparations for the season proper.
Fever face the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Round 1 at Priceline Stadium, with their first home game against Magpies Netball in Round 2 at Perth Arena in a Saturday night blockbuster.
