West Coast Fever fans look set to vote with their feet for this weekend’s Suncorp Super Netball Blockbuster against Magpies Netball, with the Club expecting their largest home crowd of the 2017 season at Perth Arena on Saturday night.
Current projections forecast a crowd in excess of 7,500 fans, while the single game season attendance record of 8,074, set during the Melbourne Derby in the opening round, is also well within reach.
Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich praised the fans for their relentless support, saying the reputation of Fever’s supporters is known throughout the competition.
“Teams across the league are very aware of how passionate our crowd is and I hope they really give it to Collingwood when they get here,” Marinkovich said.
“To have this volume of support, particularly at the back end of the season given the results we have had, is really encouraging.”
“Our Members and fans have jumped on the journey with us because they understand where the Club is at with respect to our long term goals.”
“I think they are genuinely excited about the future given what they have seen from our young developing talent this season, consistently showing what West Australian netball is all about.”
More than half of current ticket sales for Saturday night’s clash have been purchased by Netball WA’s loyal Club community, after Fever provided a special ticket offer to the netball family in WA as a gesture of thanks for their ongoing commitment to the Cub.
Fittingly, the game will also mark Marinkovich’s 40th in charge of Fever, surpassing predecessor Norma Plummer (39) as the longest serving coach in the Club’s history, with the milestone to be celebrated in front of a bumper crowd.
