West Coast Fever shooter Kate Beveridge has been ruled out of the Round 9 clash against the Queensland Firebirds in Brisbane on Saturday night.
Beveridge was deemed not medically fit to take the court this weekend, as part of the ongoing management of a minor knee complaint.
Fever Training Partner Sophie Garbin has been elevated to the playing squad and will travel with the team tomorrow.
Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich stressed the injury was not long term.
“The Club’s medical team anticipate Kate to be available to play in Round 10 after a full week of training,” Marinkovich said.
“It’s unfortunate that we will be without Kate’s versatility against the Firebirds but this was a necessary measure to ensure she fully recovers and is ready to play out the remainder of the season.”
“We possess exceptional depth in this squad and, should she get the opportunity to take the court, I have no doubt Sophie will be a perfect example of that talent.”
The selections caps an impressive individual year to date for Garbin, who was a member of the Western Sting team that recently secured gold in the Australian Netball League (ANL), was named MVP in the ANL Grand Final and also broke the ANL season goal scoring record previously held by Kristina Brice.
Fever face the Firebirds in the second game of an exciting double header at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Saturday night.
